Dragon Dreaming is a gathering of people from all walks of life, uniting to experience a collective energy of non-judgmental fun and freedom. This camping, music festival is for the inner child and for those who wish to be seen as their authentic selves. This celebration truly has it all and is for anyone who thrives to dance so hard that the mountains will remember them forever.
The event is held annually in November, on the Cooradigbee Homestead by the shores of Burrinjuck Dam, Wee Jasper. The festival is only 1 hour and 30 minutes from Canberra and an hour from Yass. The spring days are warm and sunny making lake swims appealing but the nights are wintery, so be sure to take some warm festival wear and lots of blankets for your tent. The rolling hills provide a picturesque backdrop for the festival making it a beautifully scenic place to enjoy your days.
Expect a festival of colour, creativity and some very bold costumes.
This music and lifestyle festival is heading into it’s 10th year in 2018 and continues to pull out all the tricks with; belly dancing and burlesque shows, to fire twirling and a UV ball pit for adults in the evening. Of course it wouldn’t be a festival without thumping music which never stops and impressive light shows to match.
There are ample markets for you to peruse but don’t be fooled by Bobs Buckets as they don’t sell buckets no matter how many times you ask them. The food vendors are delicious and cater to all dietary needs. Jerry’s Vegiburgers are a must try and will have even the most carnivorous of us all salivating and wanting more.
Dragon Dreaming also includes an art gallery tent showcasing local talent from Canberra and surrounds. The memorable UV paintings, that come to life as you wander through are worth checking out.
The festival holds healing spaces providing the community with some much needed nurturing. The healing spaces include yoga classes, massages, sound baths and women’s circles allowing you to find balance in the madness.
Don’t forget the kids! Yes, this is a child friendly festival where children have their own tent full of fun including glitter, face painting and activities to keep them entertained while parents have time to recoup.
Expect trippy days and raucous nights where the music never stops and the energy keeps on buzzing. Be sure to bring your big, bold and bright costumes and don’t forget your glitter which will stick with you for weeks to come.
