In November 2017, Spirit Quest Travel held its first all women’s micro-retreat, Spirit of Sundaze, by the shores of Lake Ginninderra, Canberra. The event included walking, restorative yoga, an essential oils workshop and was completed with a delicious and nutritious feast catered by End of Thyme Sustainable Catering.

The food was absolutely divine and locally sourced nurturing the mind, body and soul and the best part… it is environmentally conscious. I simply could not pass up the opportunity to find out more and to share this inspirational business with you all.

Lauren congratulations on following your passion and starting up your own business. Tell us what is unique about End of Thyme?

End of Thyme is a catering business which launched in 2017 and is built totally around an environmentally sustainable practice. Throughout all aspects of the business there is a high level of care taken with our approach to catering. Care for the produce sourced, care in the production of the food and care for Planet Earth.

What inspired you to be a waste free company?

After 20 years of commercial kitchen experience I have seen firsthand the incredible amount of unnecessary food waste and packaging that is used in the hospitality industry. I had wanted the business to be as sustainable as possible and, as an Aquarian, there is a tendency toward being innovative and revolutionary. So, why not Zero Waste?

Managing your own business can be quite stressful and overwhelming at times. What does Lauren, the sustainable entrepreneur, do to keep a balanced lifestyle?

It’s really important to me to be able to maintain a work/home life balance. There have been times in the past where I was working a lot and struggled to strike this balance. So self care becomes increasingly important and tuning in to what the body needs is another thing that I’ve gotten better at. Exercise and meditation are my go to’s, Baths and massages are good as well.
